I made it to all the places i had missed some 15 years ago, due to a late night binge and not being able to take a temple tour at that time. I took the river boat up to Wat Arun (first picture)- and the temple of dawn was gorgeous, but the Grand Palace and the Wat Phra Kaew (second picture) and the Amazing and beautiful emerald (jade) Buddha's rivalled Versaille. Surrounding the palace complex were throngs of street vendors. I noticed several blind beggars playing music, one woman had her eyelid skin sealed across the eyes like some terrible mask.

So now i say hello from Delhi. My posts are a day behind as they are written on my laptop in the evenings. Arriving in Delhi I was almost first out, and it was very restrained- both my excitement and the awaiting crowd, nothing like the throng of Mumbai, no one trying to take my bag or scam a taxi fare, The driver I found took me to the Ambassador and as is usual the ride into town was hair-raising- but at least it had lights, oil in the engine and a semblance of suspension, and it is an easy ride into town here. Within a few minutes the obligatory Rajasthan tour had been offered- and declined, but i laughed, and my marital status and employment was discussed.
Now i have the next 2 days to see the delights of Delhi...today i went to old delhi, and Jama Masjid- wow awesome, more with the pictures tomorrow!
